Action Plans for Short and Long-Term Goals:

The band booster organization supports the following activities and programs by implementing and funding:

  1. Advising the directors of actions within the band that are disrespectful or conflict with what a parent might define as going against what is moral for their family, or otherwise need the involvement of the directors.
  2. Providing support by chaperoning trips; uniform maintenance, fittings and distribution; providing snacks after performances; organizing parent student functions; senior recognition pizza party at band camp; assisting with concert programs; greeting families at concerts; providing parent recognition; providing student recognition; assisting freshmen orientation; and enhancing communication channels such as the phone "hotline", web site and newsletters.
  3. Advocating for the Band music programs to the community, hosting special artists, involving students of all ages, publicizing band activities to the community, fostering community among band volunteers and developing pride among band members.
  4. Annual budget supports a range of activities – see Treasurer’s report.
  5. The Band Boosters Board of Directors selected the following action points to concentrate on this school year out of the 18 items listed under item E of the 2003-2004 Strategic Plan Report. This does not preclude that the other Items are not supported or agreed to, only that our focus this fall will begin with the following:
    • Work with middle school parents and administration for improved communication regarding the transition to 9th grade and parental involvement in the booster organization.
    • Take steps to retain band students for all 4 years in high school.
    • Help guide the Band Student Leadership council as requested by the Directors.
    • Review the chaperone tip sheets to ensure more effective chaperones.

The following suggestions have been implemented or are actively supported through the programs listed one page 1 of this summary report:

    • Support the director’s vision and goals
    • Encourage parent volunteerism
    • Request alumni financial support and band involvement
    • Fundraising – both through new programs and existing programs to support expenses identified and potential future trips

The financial portion of the FHC Band Boosters 2003-2004 Strategic Plan Report will be discussed at the November booster meeting.

Respectfully Submitted,
