Presidents Report - Kathy Oberlin

Past Events Review

Freshman Orientation - This went well. The majority of our eighth graders will continue on in high school band.

Upcoming Projects/Events

·         Jazz Trip -- 38 kids will be going to Pittsburgh April 24th - 26th.

·         1st Year Band Camp Meeting--May 6th at the high school. There will be a band fashion show featuring  a variety of band camp apparel. Black shorts and shirts--for band camp-- will be available for sale as well as refurbished band shoes.

·         Band Camp 09 -- August 2-7. This will be similar to last year. Parents will pick their kids up Thursday afternoon. Students will end the week at FHC with a kick-off show Friday night. An email will go out shortly.

·         Disney Trip - Feb. 2010 -- There will be no mid-winter break next year so the kids will need to miss a few days of school to participate. We are waiting for approval from the administration before we can confirm the dates.

VP Operations--- Mike DeNeff

·         Hospitality--May 4th/5th concert refreshments--Tricia Heneveld

·         Senior Flowers for May 5th concert--Sandy Guthrie

·         End of the Year Banquet -- Mike DeNeff/ Karen McCarthy.   We will sell tickets in advance as we have in the past. It will take place in the cafeteria again. Mike said she is in the process of finalizing the menu.

·         Senior Gifts/ May 15th awards -- Kathy Oberlin. Seniors receive a photo album with individual photos of themselves.

VP Fundraising Report--Lisa Shatney

·         Old Uniform Pillows--Kim Banks/Mike DeNeff. Mike showed a sample of the pillow. Order forms are available on the band web site.

·         Domino's Pizza Sale--April 20 -27. Lisa said this sale will be different from the fall pizza sale. Pizza cards will sell for $10 and the kids will receive $8 of that in their accounts. Each card is worth over $100 in product  from Domino’s.

·         Auction (Bill Morrow, Ashlee Dowley, Kathy Oberlin)--Donations are coming in. Kathy reported that we  received 4 one-day park hopper Disney passes, a large banana tree, a hand-made cherry chest and a quilt.

·         Musician Notes--Kathy Oberlin. Order forms are available on the web site.

·         Spring Flower Sale--Lisa Shatney.  This will be a simple fundraiser and will run through the month of May. The coupons (for Romence Gardens) are available on the band web site and thru email.

·         Marching Shoe Sale--Caryn Pope.  We currently have 90 pairs of shoes. We will sell them at the 1st year Band Camp meeting. They will also be available to current band students.

Secretary Report - Melinda Kozulis

Minutes from the March booster meeting were approved.

Treasurer Report - Brad Berkshire

Not a lot of activity this month. We paid some small bills...expenses related to the Domino’s Pizza fundraiser and the band pillow sale.

Election of 2009-2010 Executive Board

The following individuals ran unopposed and were unanimously elected to the following board positions  for the next school year:

·         VP of Fundraising -- Kim Banks and Jeff Reynolds

·         Treasurer--Andrea Keefer

·         Secretary--Kathy Gatchalian

·         Asst. Treasurer (appointed)--Cindy Gilbert

Directors Report

·         Jazz Lab Band Performs at MSBOA--Mr. Engelsman said the kids had a great time and received an overall rating of 1. He said several band and orchestra students also participated at the District 10 State Solo and Ensemble festival held in West Ottawa.

·          Jazz and Percussion  Concert--May 4th, 7pm FAC

·         FHC Band Concert--May 5th, 7pm FAC

·         Leadership Clinic and Auditions-- Monday April 27th-29th from 3-4:15 pm.  Auditions for Drum Major will be April 30th from 3-5 pm. Section leader/field commander auditions will be May 6th from 3-6 pm.

·         Drum line 2009 -- Mr. D said drum line auditions are this week.

·         Visual Unit 2009 -- Auditions will be next week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

·         Jazz Band I and II-- Mr. D said these groups are going to Pittsburgh April 24-26th for a weekend of great music.
