FHC Band Booster Meeting Minutes

 Band Music Booster Meeting:

LuAnn VanHaren introduced herself and welcomed everyone to the Meeting.

 

President’s Report - (LuAnn Van Haren)

Thanks were extended to all who chaperoned the Disney Trip.

Recruitment of 8th grade students is in March. Orientation is March 22nd. We will have brochures and DVD’s available as well as students and board members to answer questions. Phone calls are currently being made to the families to ensure band participation.

Board Nominations are being filled for next year. April is the elections. VP of Fundraising is currently being sought. See Kathy Oberlin or Sandy Guthrie to answer any questions.

The Spring Banquet is Thursday 5/17. It will be more formal this year. A sit down dinner will be in the cafeteria. Music will be available after dinner for dancing for both adults and students.

 

VP Fundraising Report – (Sandy Guthrie)

Sandy is currently working on the flower sale. A certificate will be available for students to hand out to neighbors and friends. It can then be taken to Romance Gardens where 10% of the total purchase will go into the students account. This will be available the entire month of May.

 

VP Operations Report – (Kathy Oberlin)

A committee has been formed to look at new uniforms. It is possible for us to have them in time for the fall marching season. Mr. “D” will speak to the school board to ask for funds. The old uniforms will be donated to another school. The current uniforms have been used for 11 seasons.

 

Treasurers Report – (Terry Popa)

Terry reported for Tom Cisler that we are in good financial state. The CMU bill has been paid which is different from the budget report presented.

 

Secretary Report – (Sue Perry)

John DeStefano made a motion to accept the January minutes and they were seconded by Terry Popa. Sue explained the minutes are on the internet.

 

Directors Report – (Mr. DeStefano)

Thanks were extended to Diane Pennycad for the FAS. The Night of Percussion will be May 8th at 7:00pm in the FAC.

Also, thank you to all who helped with Disney.

The school Musical is over and the kids did well.

MSBOA Jazz Festival is at Lowell High School 3/22. The Lab band performs at 1:00 pm, Jazz II plays at 2:15.

MSBOA State Solo and Ensemble is 3/24 at Hudsonville. Times have been posted for the students.

We are still working on Friends of the Band (FOB). Please encourage the community to join this group.

Band Camp is 8/5-8/10 at Central Michigan University. Chaperones are needed. Please contact Mr. “D”.

3/26 is a combined concert for FHE, FHN and FHC. All parents are encouraged to attend. Performance times are: Concert Band 9-9:30 am; Symphonic Band 11-11:50 am; Wind Ensemble 1-1:50 pm.

Marching Drum Clinics are 4/10-11, 3-4:15 PM. Auditions 4/12, 3-6:00 pm

Visual Unit Clinics are 4/16-17, 3-4:15pm. Auditions are 4/18 3-5:00pm

Leadership Clinic are 4/23-26, 3-4:15 pm. Drum Major Auditions are 3/30, 3-6:00pm. Section leader/field commander Auditions are 5/2, 6:00pm

Those trying out for leadership positions should keep available the weekend of 6/23-25 for a mandatory out of state clinic.

Symphonic Band and Wind ensemble will play for graduation May 22nd.

The Jazz band will play at the Cascade Memorial Day Service May 28th at 10:00am at the Cascade Library.

The End of year video will be put together by Parker DeWaal.
