President’s Report - (LuAnn Van Haren)

The Spring Banquet is Thursday 5/17. It will be more formal this year. A sit down dinner will be in the cafeteria catered by Carrabas for $15.00 per adult and $10.00 per student. Tickets should be preordered and prepaid and picked up at the May concerts. Tickets will also be sold at the concerts but not at the door the night of the event. Awards will be held in the auditorium. DJ Music will be available after the awards for dancing for both adults and students. A Chinese auction will also be held. Anyone with gifts or talents to donate should contact Bill Morrow. You need to be present to win. The dance will be over by 10:30.

Secretary Report – (Sue Perry)

Sue Perry made a motion to accept the minutes. They were seconded by Karen McCarthy.

VP Operations Report – (Kathy Oberlin)

A committee has been formed to look at new uniforms. Mr. “D” spoke with Tim Raymer in the District office and he is currently looking at all three high school bands to see what inventory we have and will determine the needs based on a whole. He would not commit to any money for this year and would not commit to reimbursing us if we paid for the uniforms ourselves. The best scenario is to look to purchase new uniforms next year.

All but one 8th grade student has committed to the high school band. Mr.”D” gave “kudos” to Mrs. Davis for helping us “keep” the band alive.

VP Fundraising Report – (Sandy Guthrie)

Coupons are available on the web and were sent through the e-mail.10% of the total purchase will go into the students account. This will be available the entire month of May.

Evening of Percussion – is scheduled for May 8th. Dane Richeson is the guest artist and specializes in Brazilian Percussion.

Treasurers Report – (Tom Cisler)

Tom reported we continue to do well. The extra banquet money will go into the uniform fund. A question was asked why we are raising money for uniforms when we expect the district to pay for them. It was also brought up that the district should pay for instruments as well. Mr. “D” explained that unfortunately is it extremely unlikely the district will be able to come up with the necessary funds.  We hope to add approximately $5-6,000.00 each year to the uniform/instrument funds. The final payment for the current loan to the district used previously to purchase instruments will be made this month.

A discussion was also held as to why the Geezer Dance was cancelled. It was generally felt we should try again next Feb.

Directors Report – (Mr. DeStefano)

The Jazz Lab and Ensemble 1 all performed at MSBOA District 10 Jazz Festival and received a 1 rating. Congratulations to the band and Mr. Engelsman.
