He reported he was in the process of collecting past due money from various situations.
He explained the treasurer structure was being changed to provide a system of checks and balances. Expenses from the membership will go to Terry Popa and financials and deposits will be tracked by Tom.
President’s Report - (LuAnn Van Haren)
LuAnn thanked all those involved in the marching band season and the fundraisers held to date.
VP Fundraising Report – (Sandy Guthrie)
Sandy explained some new fundraising ideas which included selling mailbox swags and a dinner at a local restaurant. Macaroni Grill is having communication problems but Noto’s seemed very interested in participating with us. They also have a coupon book that can be sold. Help is needed in chairing these fundraisers.
She is also in need of co-chairs for the spring flower sale.
There was a question about possibly selling more keycards. Kathy Oberlin will do an e-mail blast to see if we can get a minimum of 25 individual orders to place another order.
Judy Cisler announced the next date for Script is Dec 4th. Order forms are on the website.
VP Operations Report – (Kathy Oberlin)
Teri Allie will be measuring for concert uniforms 8:30 – 11:00 on Nov. 13th. She needs one more person to help her do this. Please call Kathy Oberlin or Teri Allie if you can help. A letter was sent to those needing to be measured today. All boys in Wind Ensemble and Symphonic band will need to pay $30.00 for their tuxes and freshman girls and those that do not have a blouse will also need to pay and be measured.
Dec 11th & 12th will be the Winter Concert. We will only have refreshments Dec 12th. Ann Myers has the list of volunteers and will be calling shortly.
Secretary Report – (Sue Perry)
Sue made a motion to accept the September minutes. They were seconded by John DeStefano.
Apparel Sales – A discussion was had whether people were interested in ordering apparel. It was generally felt that fall is the best time to order with an emphasis to the freshman parents. It was also suggested we put pictures of apparel on the website for people to view.
Directors Report – (Mr. DeStefano)
Mr. “D” reported there was a free concert by Sam Stryke 11/12 at 3:00 at the St. Ceclia’s music society. His CD will also be sold at the Dec 11th band concert.
Private lessons are available through both Mr. “D” and Mr. Engelsman.
February Artist Series is 2/6 for Percussion. The artist is unknown at this time. The Jazz concert will be 2/9 with Garrett Gardiner as the artist. It is hopeful we have both artists for 2 days to give the students more exposure to them. Contact Diane Penneycad if you are interested in volunteering for this event.
Sign up for Solo Ensemble is Nov. 15th for the Jan. 20th performance.
The Disney flight will depart Grand Rapids on 2/16 at 7:00 am and arrive at 9:25 am.
It will depart Orlando on 2/21 at 2:00 pm and arrive at 4:30 pm.
The travel agent will be here at the next band meeting to answer any questions.
The Marching band banquet was a huge success with wonderful food. Special thanks went to the leadership group.
The school safety committee met recently. Because of the constant amount of traffic in and out of the band room, including when class is not in session, security cameras were requested to be installed. There were also discussions about locking all doors once school starts except for the main entrance. Locks are changed every two years. The outside parking lot security cameras go off when the lights are turned off.
The next meeting is January 9th.
