Order forms have already been printed. The sale is Oct. 11-26. Delivery date is Dec. 3rd. New this year is a box of mixed fruit. Student credit will be 6.00 for a small box, 10.00 for lg. Box. Volunteers are needed on Delivery day.
Entertainment Books (Betty Belding) Books given to students who wanted to sell them. They are 35.00 each with a 10.00 credit to the student for each book sold. Sell 5, you get 1 free. Sale ends Oct. 8th.
Fundraising Policy Updated this past summer by the Board Presidents. Changes needed to be made regarding transition times. Glenn Williams reviewed the policy basics.
Choir Trip Update Betty told us 38 choir students went on a 10-day trip to the East Coast this past summer. They had a great experience, singing in many cool places and seeing a Broadway show.
Patron Update (Vince Palusci) Response from Patron letter that was sent out in August has been good. Band – $6,000, Choir – $2,765, Orchestra - $1155.
BAND BOOSTER MEETING NOTES
September 13, 2004
President’s Report Lisa Carpentier introduced board members and gave a summary of the purpose and functions of the band boosters. Reported Band Camp went well. Gave thanks to the chaperones and reminded everyone it’s never to early to sign-up to be a chaperone for next year. Band kick-off was rained out, but moved to the Auditorium with everyone’s help. A first annual Freshmen and Sophomore tailgate was held before the first football game. Comments were made to have people there to greet and answer questions. A Jr. and Sr. tailgate will be held before the last football game. Parent volunteers from the freshmen and sophomore class would be appreciated. Board members introduced, Julie Dunakin – VP Operations, Kathy Oberlin – VP Fundraising, Vince Palusci – Treasurer, Ass’t Treasurer – Roz Palusci, Kim Pearson, Secretary – LuAnn VanHaren.
Secretary’s Report Minutes from the last meeting on April 20, 2004 available to review. The minutes were approved and will be available on the FHC band website (April minutes).
VP Operations Report Julie gave thanks to the hard work of Vince and Lucy Hoover in doing uniforms, Becky Kollar & Karen Ross for hospitality snacks, and all parade chaperones. We still need chaperones for a few events. MSBOA on Oct. 12th, evening at E. Kentwood, and Jenison Invitational on Oct. 16th, Sat. tentative time, 2:30, call time 12:00pm. Chaperone duties include helping with uniforms and taking attendance on the bus. Thanks also to Monique Baczewski for mending uniforms and Kathy Johnson for making Color Guard skirts. Hospitality needs volunteers to bring cookies to serve after concerts.
VP Fundraising Report Kathy reported there are many opportunities for student fundraising, for example, e-scrip, Meijer rewards, D&W days, Entertainment Books, Citrus Sale. The Band program raises money through Bandtasia, Feb.Artist Series, and Patron donations and Ad Sales. Another opportunity this year is selling concessions at the MSBOA festival we are hosting at the FAC in March.
Treasurer's Report Vince reviewed the current statement of the financial position. We are still paying off long term bills for instruments and uniforms. Final bill from CMU (camp) has not come yet. Budget is printed, but was not handed out. There are 47 less band members this year, so adjustments were made(less fundraising money).
Director's Report Mr. DeStefano talked about Band Camp. They had a great staff this year, including Emily Davis, new band teacher at FHCMS. Upcoming events include MSBOA at E. Kentwood, Oct. 12, Jenison HS MB Invitational on Oct. 16. He encouraged all parents to attend and cheer the students on.
Bandtasia Renee Rasikas (chairperson) reported that the new Fine Arts Center is ready to have Bandtasia for the first time and are very welcoming. She reviewed how to get tickets and practice times. The hotline will be open for ticket reservations on Sept. 20. Taco dinners will be for sale before the show starting at 5:45pm. Posters are for sale for 10.00. She still needs help with costumes the nights of the show and Publicity. Flyers were passed out at the parade. Dress Rehearsal will be on Monday, Oct. 18th, from 3-6pm at the FAC. Students need to provide their own transportation.
