Music Boosters joint activities and interests:

Mr. Ivory reported that the Music Department Piano has been fully refurbished. The cost was $600 to be split among the Band, Orchestra and Choir Boosters.

Mr. Williams invited everyone to attend the opening musical "Artspeaks" in the new Forest Hills Fine Arts Center. It will be performed on April 23, 24 and 25. Tickets are $15 each.

The Spring Concert Dates have been changed to facilitate performances in the Fine Arts Center:

BAND BOOSTER MEETING NOTES

April 20, 2004

President’s Report: Lisa Carpentier presented a summary of a very sucessful year for our bands. We had several firsts-Band Kickoff, Senior Student Tailgate, Citrus Sale and Percussion Night. The Fine Arts Center held a public open house last weekend. Two large side by side blocks for an inside wall were purchased by our band for the Fine Arts Center. The FHC Band Blocks are located on the left hand wall. The band is also listed on the donation wheel. Thank yous were given to the Band Booster Board Members who are leaving the Board: June Rudy-Treasurer, Judy Cisler-Vice President Operations and Jane Streb-Vice President Fundraising. Thank you was also given to Trini Nichols for her work on Scrip. Becky McIntee will replace Trini Nichols as Scrip Co-chair for next year.

Vice President’s Operations Report: Judy Cisler presented a copy of the volunteer form that will be mailed out to all band student families. Parents are encouraged to volunteer their time for next year. The forms are due back on May 20.

Vice-President's Fundraising Report: Jane Streb reported that D & W Days will be held on April 26, 27 and 28. Tell the cashier that you want to support the FHC Band Boosters. The fundraising policy subcommittee has met and a document is being drafted to revise our band fundraising policies.

Secretary’s Report: Julie Dunakin presented the March meeting minutes. The minutes were approved, see web site (FHC Band Boosters) for a copy. Uniform fee collection for next year was explained. Students will pay all uniform fees with their band camp payment.

Treasurer’s Report: June Rudy presented a copy of the General Fund Receipts and Expenditures. Our annual estimate for receipts has been exceeded again this year due to increased patron donations and successful fundraising. Band Camp/Uniform fees are due May 1.

Director’s Report: Mr. Williams spoke about the Jazz Band I and II performances at the Thornapple Jazz Festival in Hastings on April 17. Four students from the senior class have earned Proficiency III at State Solo and Ensemble: Robin Storm, Ryan Rasikas, Sarah Dunakin and Alicia Van Tuinen. All band students and their families are invited to the Band Awards Night on Thursday, May 20.

New Business: Eastern High School band program will be starting next fall. A band booster donation will be discussed after the program is underway.

New Band Booster Election: Ellen Gravelie presented the nominations for next year: President: Lisa Carpentier, Vice President Operations: Julie Dunakin, Vice President Fundraising: Kathy Oberlin, Secretary: Lu Ann VanHaren, Treasurer: Vince Palusci. All nominees were elected by vote.
