BAND BOOSTER MEETING
November 18, 2003
President’s Report: Lisa started with by-law approval needed for specific by-laws for the band booster organization that comply with the districts by-laws. Approval was approved by the quorum present.
Middle School Update – Lisa has met with Mr. Mainero to discuss setting up an 8th grade parent group to assist him with various tasks and to help kids with the transition to high school. She asked for parent volunteers from the group present.
Marching Season Summary – Lisa’s report reviewed the season, and complimented and thanked the students, parents and directors for fun and successful year, which culminated with the Marching Band Banquet.
Vice President’s Operations Report: No report.
Vice-President's Fundraising Report: Very successful Bandtasia fund raising event with over 110 parent volunteers. Citrus sale: over $19,334 worth of fruit sold, with 122 students participating raising over $9000 in funds. Citrus is much easier to sell than cheese and sausage. Jane also reminded us to use our Meijer Rewards accounts all year long.
Bandtasia – Ellen and Agata told us all three shows were sold out and expressed how each year this event seems to improve. They are recruiting for next year’s Bandtasia group.
Secretary’s Report: September meeting minutes were approved, see web site (FHC Band Boosters) for a copy.
Treasurer’s Report: June provided a humorous review of the current treasurer’s report and mentioned fundraising dollars earned to date have been applied to your student’s account. Patron’s donations are above last year’s contributions, over $10,600 raised to date. Bandtasia is ahead of goal, and band expenses are on track. Long term needs are to set aside funds per the recommendation of the Long Term Strategic Planning committee. Reminder to get 2nd Disney payment in on time or a penalty will be incurred.
Director’s Report: Glenn spoke excitedly about the upcoming Ellington Nutcracker Jazz and Symphony Orchestra concert – a first and must see experience. The jazz Feb Artist series features two outstanding professionals that will benefit our kids and should be a pair of excellent events to not miss. The directors are both expecting many students to participate in MSBOA Solo and Ensemble.
New Business: Discussion on how much the boosters should contribute to the New Fine Arts center was diverse in opinion. A motion was passed to encourage the student ensembles to contribute donations with the boosters matching up to $1000 total.
